Amanda Maldonado, Red Hill Band Director
The Red Hill Band is pleased to announce that Amanda Maldonado has accepted the position of Director of Music. A 1998 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School, she went on to receive her two undergraduate degrees from Lebanon Valley College and her Master of Music degree from Kansas State University. Mandy is currently a music educator with the Upper Perkiomen School District and Assistant to the Band Director at Palisades High School where she works with the Marching Band.
As a high school and college student, Mandy played in the clarinet section of the Red Hill Band until her studies took her out of the area. Now as director she looks forward to leading the band into their 2021 season and beyond. As Mandy explained: “It’s a very exciting time for the group after being idle for over a year due to Covid-19 and the cancellation of the 2020 season. I think everyone is happy to be back playing again. I know I’m excited and a little nervous to be directing a group where some of the members were my teachers when I was in school!”
Mandy and her husband Abel reside in Perkasie. Both are music educators devoting their careers to getting and keeping children involved in the arts. Outside of music they enjoy travelling, reading, and exploring new parks with their German Shepherd/Border Collie mix Bella.
While the 2021 season will be limited, a handful of performances by the Red Hill Band are scheduled. Mandy encourages anyone interested in seeing the band to check their website or their Facebook page for concert dates and times.
